Maps Version 2

AdminOLT has integrated new functionalities to the Maps section, in order to provide more information when tracing our fiber map.

We can find this option in the following section

Some improvements made were:

  • Thread Union
  • Use of balanced and unbalanced splitters
  • Power Calculations

To use these, we need to take some steps beforehand.

Previous Steps

Overview

  1. Hide Marks
  2. Add Directory
  3. Add Map
  4. Directories
  5. Tools

  1. Thread Union and Power Calculations

Thread Union and Power Calculations

To be able to use these tools, we first need to add our network start, in this case an active device(OLT), you can read the section on How to Add an Active Device?

This option can only be found in markers of type Rack, Splice Box, and NAP
For this, it is important to consider the Types of Splitters and Types of Cables that have been used.

Thread union has 3 different ways to be applied, one of them is the thread union from a Rack to a NAP, from the threads of one NAP to another NAP, and from a SPLITTER to a NAP, this is how the threads can be joined.

 Important

Take into account the following tables that allow you to know the power losses in different situations of thread union

Balanced Splitters

Splitter Type 1:2 1:4 1:8 1:16 1:32 1:64 1:128
Loss (dB) 4 7 11 15 19 22 26

Unbalanced Splitters

Splitter Type 50/50 45/95 40/60 35/65 30/70 25/75 20/80 15/85 10/90 5/95 1/99
Loss (dB) 3.6 3.1 2.7 2.3 1.9 1.6 1.3 1.0 0.8 0.4 0.3
3.6 4 4.4 5.0 5.6 6.4 7.4 9.0 11 14 21

Union of RACK to NAP

1In order to add thread unions, we must double-click on the RACK Marker

2Then a pop-up window will open where we go to the thread union section, where we can choose the threads that need to be joined as follows

3We visualize the thread union and power as mentioned before

Union of NAP to NAP

1In order to add thread unions, we must double-click on the NAP Marker

2Then a pop-up window will open where we go to the thread union section, where we can choose the threads that need to be joined as follows

3We visualize the thread union and power as mentioned before

Union of SPLITTER to NAP

1In order to add thread unions with the SPLITTER and the NAP, we must first connect the IN port of the splitter with a thread from the NAP that is already receiving power.

2After connecting the IN port, we can see that the splitter ports are receiving power considering the previous table, in which we can now connect those ports of the SPLITTER to the threads of a following NAP..

3We visualize the thread union and power as mentioned before

Remove thread union

1In order to remove a thread union, we must select the unlink icon located next to the thread power

2Once the union is removed, we can see that it is no longer present

How to Add an Active Device?

In our map, we will follow the following steps

1Choose a directory and add a marker of type Rack

Fill in the corresponding data

For this step, Previous Steps must have been done

Hide Marks

By hiding the marks, we can have a better visualization of our map, if we want to hide the marks by their type or individually we can do so. Remember that hiding marks by type only hides them at that moment, if the mark is hidden from its box it will save the change and when the map is reloaded it will remain hidden.

1To hide various types of marks on the map, you must click on the "x" of the mark on the left side

2After hiding, we can see that they are no longer visually present on the map, this applies for ALL of their type and remember that when the map is reloaded they will be displayed again.

3In order to show the marks again, click on any part of the white area and write the marks to be shown

4We can hide a mark on the map individually by displaying the maps and directories on the left side and clicking on the mark box to hide/show. Remember that if the map is reloaded, the mark will remain hidden until it is chosen again in the checkbox to show

Add Directory

Adding a directory allows us to have an order in our marks on our map, as we can not only have them ordered by map but also by directories/subdirectories. It is important to know in which map/directory we choose to add it.

1In order to add a directory, right-click on the corresponding map and then click on the folder icon.

2A form will be displayed as follows and we complete it

  1. Directory Name: Name assigned to the Directory

2We visualize the new information

Add Map

We can quickly and easily add a map in this section, after adding the map we can find it in the directory section, as the main directories are the maps we have.

1In order to add a map, click on the map icon.

2A form will be displayed as follows and we complete it

  1. Map Name: Name assigned to the Map
  2. Description: Description that can be added to the map *
  3. Longitude: Longitude of the Map location
  4. Latitude: Latitude of the Map location
