Configuration on MikroTik RouterBoard for TP-Link OLT Series DS-P7001

 Note

The following steps are to show an example of how the basic structure of a fiber network should be. To have a clearer understanding of how the OLT connection is structured when performing the configuration, you can refer to the following diagram.

 Router with Internet output

We will start assuming that the equipment already has the initial configurations to have Internet access, so it is required to verify that there is an Internet connection.

Connection through Ethernet port.

Bridge Creation

Let's create a bridge to assign an IP from the default administration network of the OLT and also to assign an IP when we change the default network.

1 Go to the Bridge section in your RouterBoard menu to create bridge1 interface and group the ports that will be working in the OLT network.

2 Assign the two ports connecting to the OLT to bridge1.

Default IP Network Segment Creation to connect our OLT

For this step, we will create a network segment to connect to our OLT through the Default IP, the network should be similar to the 192.168.1.1/24 segment

Network Segment Creation to connect our OLT

Change OLT's Default IP

In the previous step, it is explained that a network segment is created to connect our OLT through its Default IP, as a best practice, it is recommended to change the OLT's Default IP. Therefore, we must create a network segment to connect our equipment. At the moment, only the network segment will be created, as in the following configuration steps we will explain how to change the OLT's Default IP

For our example, we will use the segment 192.168.30.0/24

Vlan Creation for hosts

Go to the interface configurations and then to the Vlan section, where we will create a vlan named vlan800 with ID 800, which will be where the subnet for the hosts will be created.

Customer Network Segment

To provide the service, we must create a VLAN for the clients. For this example, the VLAN 800 was previously created, with the Network Segment 192.168.80.0/24.
